Designing a residence within the Round House creates reciprocal collision between personal expression and imposed “Norm”s. Confined individuality within the modular facade of the Round House mirrors the oppressive influence of its history as a former police department. Rather than seeking to overturn the existing system, this project aims to incorporate diverse individualities into it. By integrating uniqueness within a standardized framework, it reforms the previous rigid norms into a flexible system that can accommodate variety in it.

Let’s take a ramp, not a stair
Tired of trudging up boring stairs? Imagine strolling through gently sloping ramps that invite friendly hellos from neighbors. Picture an airy atrium stretching from the ground floor all the way to a skylight above, turning every step into a brighter, more welcoming experience.
Interior Space, by the way, RED is structure!
The term “Norm” or “Normal” has played an important role in establishing authority by drawing boundaries between what is standard and what is an outlier, thereby defining notions of good or bad. The Home or residence represents individuality, while the Round House- a modularized building embodying authoritative standardization- imposes uniformity on its elements.

Why physical model and section drawings should be displayed separately? If one can make something simple, why not?
